FMJ (Full Metal Jacket)
The most common of the 9mm ammunition types, FMJ rounds have a bullet core fully enclosed in a metal jacket.

- Low recoil and cost-effective.
Because FMJ rounds can over-penetrate a target, they are not recommended for defensive use and are best suited to supervised range training.
JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point)
Jacketed hollow point ammunition offers the strongest stopping performance among common 9mm types. Its hollow tip is designed to expand on impact, creating a wider wound channel.
- Well suited to personal defence and law-enforcement use.
- Transfers energy into the target rather than passing through, reducing the risk of over-penetration and ricochet.
Frangible Ammunition
Frangible ammunition replaces lead with a ceramic or polymer-based composite that breaks apart on impact rather than penetrating.
- Suited to indoor and confined-space use, with a very low ricochet risk.
- Provides safe training in controlled environments due to its limited penetrating power.
+P and +P+ High-Pressure Loads
+P and +P+ loads carry more propellant than standard-pressure ammunition and are fired at higher velocity, usually paired with a JHP bullet.
- Higher stopping performance, with correspondingly higher recoil.
- Must only be used in firearms explicitly rated for +P or +P+ pressure.
