Reading the Case Type Code

A case type code such as "12 16 70" follows a fixed pattern: the first number is the calibre, the second is the case-diameter class, and the third is the case length in millimetres. "12 16 70" therefore denotes a 12 gauge cartridge with a 70 mm case.

The Role of the Wad

The wad holds the shot or slug core together inside the barrel and isolates it from the propellant gases behind it. Ozkursan uses three main wad types — BIOR, POWER and PLASTIC — chosen per product and matched to the cartridge's chamber pressure tolerance.

Shot Weight, Primer and Case Length

When a cartridge fires, the primer ignites the propellant, and the resulting gas pressure drives the wad and shot (or slug) core forward through the barrel. Shot weight ranges from 24 to 40 grams depending on the series, and every Ozkursan hunting cartridge uses a Boxer primer; shot size itself is covered separately in Shot Sizes for Hunting Shotguns. The last number in the case type code — for example "70" — states the case length in millimetres before firing, and it must match the shotgun's chamber; always check the length specified in the firearm's manual before selecting a cartridge.
